As all of you know.. Mauritian internet users subscribed to Orange ADSL and MyT. are getting their internet speed doubled as from Monday Sunday 1st March 2009. Well.. i think most of you have noticed a boost in speed since this morning (after the slowness we faced last night). Here’s a speed test, just to give you an idea of you speed!

Simply click “Begin Test” and wait for your results.
Tip : Stop your downloads before using the test.
Stop any “Loading Page”
Stop any “Msn File transfer”Just to make your results more accurate.
And if you see that your speed hasnt inceased yet, dont take out your knives, The increase is supposed to be on
MondayToday. Today is not over yet. So be Patient.
You are requested to state your ISP(ADSL or myT) and Download/Upload Speed in the comment form. Just to let everyone see and compare.

have got letter from orange congrats me of having double my speed?so have to pay Rs 1560.When had check the speed n complain to orange they say they don’t know! vow wat a company ,branded my friend!i would ask my friends to check their bill before paying 4 i have having bell li……ma with them.

I’ve got a 1MB ADSL line and my results are as follows:
Download speed is 422 and Upload speed is 260!
At times, my download speed barely goes past 60!!!
What the heck!

I’ve called MyT customer service at least 100 times during the past 3 weeks, they’ve input several complaints, out of which 2 technicians have come 1 time only, and they still couldn’t fix my problem! The technicians have seen with their own eyes that when I download a file – on top of that using Internet Download Manager which is a download accelerator – the download rate does not exceed 25-35kbs!!! I’ve jus spent at least 2hrs with MyT “customer service”. They’ve reset all configurations, have asked me to reset my Livebox, etc, but the problem still persists!!!
When I do a line speed test, it DOES NOT GO PAST 256KBPS, and I’m paying for a bloody 1Mb line!!!! When I do the tests at other people’s houses – where they have 256 or 512kbps – the line speed test is almost the same as what they have as adsl – 256 or 512!
What should I do now? Sue Mauritius Telecom???

I’ve just done the test again! The download is 150 and upload is 268!!!! What the heck???

MyT is Yuck, u r stealing people’s money instead of making the speed double u shuld reduce tarif as it was mentioned before that internet cost will b reduce but it didnt. a 256 was sufficiant for me…and by the way i can see NO DIFFERENCE between 256 and 512. yes agree testing speed shows watever, it may b false also….todays technology anythng can b done, so testing speed option that is above, may b one of them….at nite less connection, WITH A 512 MB, quite astonish. and sunday MY GOD….no connection we receive 2, 3, r maximum 5 kbps. AGAIN WITH 512MB???????? MT must b kidding wizzzz us but PLZZZZZZZ note zat APRIL FOOL is already GONE>>>>>>>>>>> HEY GUYS…..i thnk we shuld return MyT and put MTML r EMTEL Modem we receives not MB but GB zat is GIGABYTES>>>>>>so fight 4 ur rights…its not easy to get money like MT is getting it EASILY>>>>>

The tests arent false, I noticed the difference. videos from Youtube doesnt buffer anymore. and thats great. I watch football online on http://football.openparadise.net, and there also it doesnt buffer.
Well, its true that sometime the connection sucks!! previous night i was getting 5KBps speed.. I can understand your frustration..

OMG. You shud do the test again at different time during the day. if its the same. u shud contact myT. u shud be getting around 500kpbs on average.
PS: Pause all your download while doing the test.

The download speed is ok. but the connection reset that occur every 3 minutes is unacceptable. You should report this to myT. Try 8500.
