Verify Your Internet Speed

As all of you know.. Mauritian internet users subscribed to Orange ADSL and MyT. are getting their internet speed doubled as from Monday Sunday 1st March 2009. Well.. i think most of you have noticed a boost in speed since this morning (after the slowness we faced last night). Here’s a speed test, just to give you an idea of you speed!

SpeedTest | Powered by Speedtest.net

Simply click “Begin Test” and wait for your results.

Tip : Stop your downloads before using the test.
Stop any “Loading Page”
Stop any “Msn File transfer”

Just to make your results more accurate.

And if you see that your speed hasnt inceased yet, dont take out your knives, The increase is supposed to be on Monday Today. Today is not over yet. So be Patient.

You are requested to state your ISP(ADSL or myT) and Download/Upload Speed in the comment form. Just to let everyone see and compare.

   With Nomad 64kbps its 43kbps! :p Not bad for a weak 64 modem hahaha… any other nomad users here please? :p Nomad not yet updated the new speed.

   Nice… I can see most of use already have our speeds increased…

   @carrotmadman6, how?????? 688?? You had 512 previously, or is it 256 > 512 and your getting this speed.

    Is this speed test good?
    yesterday I had a +500 kbps connection and a +800kbps after 01.00..
    Today the speed is fucked up.

    Right now, on your speed test my speed is as follows:
    download 266kbps! !what the fucking shit MyT.
    Upload as usual: 70 kbps! !

    Just did speed test on other servers..

    Last Result:
    Download Speed: 499 kbps (62.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
    Upload Speed: 97 kbps (12.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

    @MMMHUSSEIN —> It seems that in our region, we have the most myT /adsl users. Thus we don’t get the fucking full speed.

    We can conclude that e speeds around 500 are acceptable. And most of us are getting that.

    you should avoid Swearing at them, i think they dont like you and they are reducing your speed only! :O

    It’s quite weird, i use myT… I tested my connection with the three different servers Nairobi, Winhoek, Bamako, Johannesburg, Gaborone (found in Africa) and Brandon (found in Canada)
    Here are the results:

    Brandon:
    Download: 527kbps
    Upload: 182kbps

    Nairobi
    Download:73kbps
    Upload:59kbps

    Windhoek
    Download: 540kbps
    Upload: 76kbps

    Bamako
    Download: 331kbps
    Upload: 209kbps

    Johannesberg:
    Download: 647kbps
    Upload: 152kbps

    Gaborone:
    Download: 462kbps
    Upload: 171kbps

    Quite a huge variation in the results…

    adsl also increased. Doubled, to be exact. plus their prices decreased by 33-46%. Thats for ADSL.

    myT, only speed has changed. Prices are still same.

    @ mohan

    just try to download on any local servers or akamai servers.
    you will notice that you get the full speed of your new connection and if you try on international servers, you will notice that you will get the download speed of your old connection with only 2-3 KB/s improvement..

    hi guys u r all very happy with yr speed not me I am on 1Mb now and my test are around what u get with yr 512kb,myt cannot stabilise the speed there is dramatic lost of speed some times its goes down under 100kb

    @sam & baggy :

    1. you should probably all the myT customer care. but they are gna tell u to restart your livebox and you PC. so do it now instead of calling and hearing the same thing.

    2. If that doesnt work at all, switch to Open DNS. Here’s a little tutorial on how to do it easily : http://tinyurl.com/auczjp

    3. Try to download something.. an mp3.. watever.. notice the speed.

    4. Make a speed test. (on this page itself. Scroll up)

    5. If its still not OK. Call the customer care again. Rant rant rant. until they give you a “working solution”
